How Pacholls Came to the United StatesSome of this information was found by Frank Pacholl Jr. in the New York City Library in a book titled "Ships Your Ancestors Sailed On". Andrew Pacholl arrived in the United States on March 10, 1887. His occupation on the passenger list was waiter. His village in Germany was unknown on the list. He sailed from Bremen Germany to Southampton England, and then on to New York. He sailed on the SS Werra, of the North German Llyod lines which began in 1882. Info on this ship can be found on this excellent web site: http://www.genemaas.net/ships.htm#SS%20Werra Information was also found on Albert and Anna Pacholl. On December 23, 1887, they arrived in New York via the same route on the SS Aller. Albert was 14 and Anna was 18. Information on this ship can be found on http://www.clydesite.co.uk/clydebuilt/viewship.asp?id=481 Another reference: From 1855 to 1890, Castle Garden was America's first official immigration center where 10 million immigrants entered from 1830 until 1892, the year Ellis Island opened. The Castle Garden website has a reference to the possible same Pacholls (the ages match with the documented birthdates. Albert's birthdate is not yet known):
Parents and sisters: Below is from a news article indicating Mathilda and her parents came over in 1890. Elisabeth is the only sister unaccounted for. She could have come over with Mathilda.
