Andreas (a.k.a. Andrew) was born in Elditten, East Prussia in 1861. He came to the United States in 1880 and later brought the rest of his family over. In Brooklyn, Andrew married Catherine (a.k.a. Katherina, Katherine, Catherina) Reiter (also spelled Reuter).
Andrew and Catherine moved from Brooklyn to Rock Valley, Iowa around 1890. By 1892, the family moved to St. Kilian where Andrew operated a blacksmith shop for two years before moving on
the farm between St. Kilian and Wilmont. Johann and the rest of the family joined them on the farm. There the family farmed for a number
of years in addition to doing blacksmith work for the neighbors. Many of the Pacholl families worked on this farm.
Catherine Pacholl - date of picture is unknown. Tradition says that Catherine came to the U.S. at the age of 17 along with a brother and sister. Her sister's married name was Dora Baars who lived in Alberta Canada.
Andrew purchased the Pacholl homestead farm in St. Kilian (in the year 1895?). Below is a picture of the current farm on the actual site of Andrew's farm. It was 160 acres of land. In 1937, Andrew's son Frank moved his family onto the farm and worked there until Andrew's death in 1941. The Pacholl heirs eventually sold the farm.
Below is a close up of the house. The left side is the original house, the right side was added much later.
Story has it that the below photo was taken on the day of Andrew's funeral. That would make sense seeing they were all together and dressed up. The year would be 1941.
Andrew's children from Catherine were (from left to right) -
Ferdinand, Bill, Frank, Elizabeth, Ben, Ann, Andrew Jr., Joe, John
Andrew Pacholl was married to Catherine until her death in 1927. He then married his second wife Marie (a.k.a. Mitzi, Maria; don't know her maiden name). This photo was taken on their wedding day in 1928. Andrew was 67.
This photo was taken around the late 1930's. Eventually Andrew moved to Minneapolis where his brother Albert was possibly living. Andrew died in 1941 at the age of 80 in Minneapolis. Stories have it that Mitzi went back to Germany after his death - she was 58 (1941 wouldn't have been a good time to go back to Germany).
Catherine died on Aug 29, 1927 and is buried at the Slayton cemetery.
Andrew died in 1941 and is buried at the St. Kilian cemetery.

Left is a portion of Andrew's death certificate. Marie his wife signed it. Unfortunately it does not show his father's birth town.
