FAQ
Why do you do this?
We have always enjoyed the holidays and have been decorating for the past six years.
How many lights do you have?
There are over 6,000 lights for our 2006 display. We add a little more each year.
How long does it take to set up?
It takes about 40 hours to test, stage, and hook everything up. It takes another
8 hours to break everything down and pack away.
What kind of lights and decorations do you use?
The display consists of 600 red/clear C-9 lights, 100 clear C-7 lights, 700 icicle
mini-lights, 4,000 clear mini-lights, 2,000 feet extension cords, assorted connectors,
assorted gutter and shingle clips, 1 inflatable Santa, 1 inflatable Snowman, 1 inflatable
8 foot sno-globe, 3 lighted stars, 40 candy canes, 2 wooden soldiers, 4 lighted wreathes,
200 feet blue rope light, 4 lighted wire-frame reindeer, 1 lighted wire-frame snowman,
250 feet garland (to hide the wires), and 25 feet fake snow for roof.
How much power does it take? How much is your electric bill?
When everything is on, it consumes about 6,000 watts or 50 amps. I am not sure how
much my electric bill is going to be but I am guessing it should be around $100 more.
What can we expect for next year?
The big news for 2007 is the enire display will be computer controlled. To do this we are going to install dedicated circuits. The lights will be synched to music using LOR controllers. What do the neighbors think?
My neighbors really like it and don't have a problem with it. Our neighborhood gets
into the decorating spirit as many of us go all out on our displays.
