Bonsai

Bonsai is a tree or shrub grown in a container. It is the bonsai artists job to make us believe that we are looking at a miniaturized version of an old tree in nature. When looking at bonsai if you get the feeling that you would like to sit under that tree, then the artist has done his job.  The word ‘bonsai’ (pronounced bōn΄-sī ) is formed from two words, ‘bon’ meaning tray or dish and ‘sai’ meaning tree or plant, so its' literal translation is ‘tree planted in a dish’. A bonsai is, then, a tree—a miniaturized tree— grown in a dish; resembling in all respects its larger counterpart in nature.

This page projects my interest in bonsai.  Click on the tree above to view an OFOTO slide show of my trees.  Comments or suggestions on my work would be greatly appreciated.
