New Coach For Saugus Lacrosse

As Mentioned last year at the team awards banquet,

Saugus Lax will be lead by a new coach. Pat Campbell

will lead the Centurians into the PLL 10-12 game

schedule.  Assistant coaches have been mentioned but commitments are still pending.  Steve Tyson, former

coach, will remain as the AD while adding new programs in the Santa Clarita area to include a team

at one of the new high schools, Golden Valley.

New Teams Added to PLL

The PLL will add 2 new teams that Saugus will face

in regular league play.  Golden Valley  HS in Santa

Clarita and a strong possiblility for Huntington Park.

Manual Arts, however has moved to the CIF.  Schedules are pending but it is projected that each

team will play twice for 8 games each in addition to

non-league games.

2006 1st season of lacrosse for many at Saugus....

The Saugus HS Lacrosse team finished up its season

last week with a loss to league champ St J. Bosco.

The game was typical for the season as the team

worked out it's problems of injuries and lack of

players.  Last minute players who were not

able to make a commitment to the full season joined

late to finish out  the last 4 games. The team had only 1 win but showed much improvement as Saugus High

players closed the gap in scoring. "The guys were actually playing lacrosse at the end of the season", remarked Coach Tyson. The coach also noted that

about 8 of 13 players had never played until this year.

"Their expectations were pretty high for beginners, but

they never did quit...... And they played honorably", stated Tyson.

 It's rumored that Assistant Coach Patrick Campbell will take the helm as Tyson moves on to start another team, although remaining as the Athletic Director for Saugus and League Commissioner of the PLL.

Patrick a former player will likely be assisted by

Matt Walline, also a former player. Both were

were outstanding players for Saugus and play

post HS lacrosse in the WLL.

New League Formed.....PLL (jan 2006)

Most of the HS teams in the former PCLA

league have gone to the CIF, and the league continues

for Jrhs Lacrosse.  Four HS teams currently remain club.  San Gab, Manual Arts and St J Bosco, and us.
