Judy Ahrens Believes in Back-To-Basics Approach In Classroom
Which Gave America its Greatness
Judy Ahrens' passion for all children deserving a quality education continues to drive her to seek election on the Westinster School Board. But Judy is also driven by the 5,715 voters who were thwarted immediately following the Election 2000. A vacated board seat made Judy the obvious choice for that appointment, being she was runner-up at the polls with 5,715 votes. However, the will of the people was subverted, (Judy being passed over) and the democratic process put in jeopardy by Westminster Board Trustees. She continues to advocate her heavily supported "Back-To-Basics" philosophy:
Higher Academic Standards - Having students be proficient in math, spelling, geography, reading, history, and science is paramount. Instilling patriotism in every student is necessary and essential.
Parents should be allowed a greater role in the decision-making process, not just fund raisers, etc. Televising school board meetings would accommodate parent's busy schedules and keep them informed.
Administrative and Fiscal Accountability - In the Westminster School District, brand new, unused textbooks have been discarded in school dumpsters. Education dollars (approx. $400,000) were used solely for decorating/remodeling a school board room instead of being used in classrooms for teachers, students, and/or field trips.
Anti-family programs belong out of school - Since 1999 the state legislature has passed and Governor Davis has signed three major bills which inject the homosexual political agenda into California schools.
The following bills need to be addressed by a board reflecting community interests and not by the influence of the radical left teachers union which will only lead to more chaos in our schools.
AB537: This bill is known as the California Student Safety and Violence Prevention Act of 2000. The heart of this bill is the creation of an anti-discrimination policy based upon sexual orientation. This initial step lays the foundation for advancing the rest of the 'gay' agenda in the schools by legitimizing the concept of "sexual orientation" as it is defined by the "gay" lobby: an immutable condition, not a behavioral choice. School districts are not required to comply with this law. At this time compliance is entirely voluntary. Important point: California State Superintendent has not informed officials at school districts that compliance is voluntary. Resolutions from school boards has been non-existant to confront the legislative gay-agenda which shortens the lifetime for the average male to 34 years if he becomes gay. Very, very high risk. More than from tobacco or fatty foods.
AB1785: This bill promotes school districts adopting policies that are free from discriminatory attitudes, specifically in sexual orientation. This bill will establish guidelines for use in teacher and administrator in-service training programs to promote an appreciation of diversity and to discourage discriminatory attitudes and practices. Basically this bill empowers the "gay" bureaucratic school activists to identify children with a "discriminatory" attitude to view "gay" and other alternative sexual lifestyles as normal and harmless. These provisions directly usurp the authority of parents regarding the moral training of their children.
(It is the liberal love affair with gays, doing their every bid, that is a real threat to your child. In many African states, the entire upper-middle class is being wiped out by aids. Just to get that tiny 1% vote of the gays the liberals have legislated a shortened life span for your child by approving an alternative lifestyle that is poison. -- Editors note.)
AB1931: This bill will fund "sensitivity training" programs relating to bils AB1785 and AB537. Over $2,000,000 in grants will be provided to districts willing to have their teachers and students participate in these "sensitivity training" programs plus another $150,000 for organizations providing these services such as GLSEN (the gay-lesbian lobby).
Judy's leadership role in her community has included PTA school site council, Westminster Community Advisory Group, and Westminster Historical Society docent. And as an educator tutoring children, she has witnessed first hand students handicapped by the inadequate educational foundation given in our schools. This sober reality fuels her passion to raise the expectation of each school, parent, and student. Judy firmly believes that with the correct educational tools and programs, we CAN prepare our children to meet the demands of a competitive world.
