BOUNDARY LINE DISPUTES
When a dispute arises between neighbors it can be the source of much misery if not handled properly from the outset. Even if handled properly, there is no guarantee that there will be harmony with one's neighbor after the dispute has been resolved. When a boundary line dispute arises, I suggest talking to an attorney to determine one's rights. Ask the attorney how to approach the problem to avoid a permanent rift with the neighbor. The goal is to resolve the conflict without costly litigation and in a way both your neighbor and you will feel like a winner. Remember you may win the dispute in court, but you may have lost in the real world because your neighbor may never again greet you cordially.
Adjoining landowners can find themselves in disputes over fences, overhanging branches, water rights, subjacent and lateral support and party walls.
While browsing the Internet I ran across an article: "How To Get Neighbors To Turn Down The Noise" by Cora Jordan. This article gives some common sense advice on how to resolve a conflict with a noisy neighbor.
