Warning Description: Special Weather Statement

Warning Date: 6:25 PM PDT on May 15, 2008

WarningSum:...Hot Weather Expected For Southwestern California Through The
Weekend...

Warning Message:Strong high pressure over the West Coast combined with weak to
moderate offshore flow will bring hot weather to the area through
the weekend. High temperatures through Saturday will soar into
the 90s across most of the interior sections...with the hottest
locations expected to exceed 100 degrees. Along the coastal
plain...daytime temperatures at the beaches will climb into the mid
70s to mid 80s...while inland portions of the coastal plain will
likely warm into the 90s. Daytime high temperatures may be near or
even exceed record levels.
Temperatures will continue to be above normal on Sunday. However...
high pressure should weaken some by Monday. The afternoon sea breeze
will return sooner each afternoon...bringing cooler conditions to
coastal sections...and slightly cooler high temperatures to the
interior. However...hot conditions will continue to occur over the
inland areas...with daytime highs in the lower to mid 90s in most
areas. A strengthening onshore flow pattern will bring more
significant cooling to the region Tuesday.
People planning outdoor activities through the weekend should take
into consideration the very high temperatures and adjust your
activities accordingly. Wear loose fitting light weight clothing and
drink plenty of water. Take advantage of shade and air conditioning
if available.
Never...ever leave children...the elderly or pets in enclosed
automobiles...even for the shortest time. Temperatures quickly
rise to life-threatening levels...even if the windows are
partially opened.
