The system is installed on a South facing patio cover. The system is installed as a "two line" system with 10 modules each. Currently system data is recorded every morning at 7:00am (plotted below). The system is currently producing about 70% of theoretical power as determined by the NREL "Red Book" data. (The theoretical data comes from the NREL PVWATTS calculator assuming a 5° tilt angle for the array and an inverter efficiency of 95%.)
Alternatively using the seasonal average solar radiation W-hr/m^2 from the "Red Book," (see table below) the photovoltaic area per panel, 1.125,m^2/panel, with the number of panels, 20, the photovoltaic efficiency, 14%, and the DC to AC conversion efficiency from the inverter, 95%, a daily maximum power can be calculated. Resulting in a daily average of 14.5kW-hr of electricity and an average efficiency of 75 to 80% with a total of 30-40% electricity used generated by solar.

We recently installed the RS-232 communication kit for our Sunny Boy Inverter. This option allows us to have real-time data monitoring of the system. (Currently this is not live and is uploaded to this WEB page every few days.)
