All beaches on Barbados are open to the public (the government doesn't want people fencing off the prettiest ones.)  That said, the beach at the Casuarina Beach Club was essentially our "private" beach and was one of the most picturesque on the island.  One factor was that the hotel chose to keep it "natural" and leave the palms and Casuarina trees (a pine-type tree) on the beach instead of building the hotel right up on the water as all the other big hotels did.  It made Casuarina beach the most relaxing beach we found and what we imagine the entire island probably looked like before it developed.
