Description:    A sound recorder/player that can remove silence 

SpeechCompact has controls similar to a tape recorder. You can use the Play, Stop and Record buttons in the same way as you would on a standard tape recorder. SpeechCompact adds a new function to his familiar set; Squish. This funciton automatically removes unnecessary silence from recorded speech.

SpeechCompact also provides a bug reporting facility. If you find that SpeechCompact does not function properly on  a particular sound, click on the bug report main menu item. This reporting function facility works, at present, on any machine that can send mail to the mailbox eht@cs.cmu.edu.
