Description:

ScorePlayer is a Music Kit application for playing Scorefiles in real time on the DSP and Midi. It is avaialable as part of the Music Kit package.
When you specify a scorefile, ScorePlayer reads it into a Music Kit Score object. Then, when you click "Play", ScorePlayer synthesizes the music on the DSP, using the instruments (Music Kit objects called Synthpatches) specified in the scorefile. ScorePlayer also allows you to set the tempo, in beats-per-minute, of the scorefile before it is played. The tempo field is initialized to the tempo value found in the file. The default tempo (if none is supplied in the file) is 60 beats-per-minute, i.e. 1 beat-per-second.
It supports synchronization to incoming MIDI time code. It allows the sound to be sent to the NeXT sound hardware or to a device connected to the DSP serial port (such as the Ariel ProPort or the Singular Solutions AD64x.) It also supports "Save As..." as MIDI file, binary scorefile, ASCII ScoreFile or soundfile. A number of example scorefiles are provide. There are both short sound examples (recognized by the "Examp" filename prefix) and longer musical excerpts.
