Spectral Modeling Synthesis (SMS) is a set of techniques for the analysis, transformation and synthesis of musical sounds. The goal of SMS is to geta general and intuitive sound representation based on analysis, from whichwe can manipulate musical parameters while maintaining the perceptual identitywith the original sound when no transformations are made.
For an exhaustive presentation of the SMS technique read the article:"Musical SoundModeling With Sinusoids Plus Noise". But if you are in an hurryyou can just look at the analysis/synthesis diagrams.
If you just want to listen to some examples go to the examplespage.
Among the programs included in the package we should mention:
All these programs are written in C and C++ and have been tested in several flavors of Unix machines. To download the source code for all the software press sms.tar.Z (version of 8/11/96).
