Introduction

• This is a list of third-party sound and music resources for NeXTStep. It contains names and descriptions (taken from the readme and help files) of applications, objects, and command-line programs that work under NextStep.
• We don't have the resources to evaluate the items in this list fairly and completely, so we choose not to publish reviews of any of them.
• There is also a list of known omissions that have been found in various archive sites.
• Please send revisions, corrections, suggested inclusions, notice of omissions, etc. to the NextMusic administration address.
• Many of the names (operating system, applications, fonts, etc.) that appear in this list are trademarks that belong to their respective owners.
• This list was previously known as NxtSndMusProgs2.0 by Mark Sullivan. It is now maintained as part of the NeXTMusic archives.

How to get the Software

• Most of the list is freeware that is available via ftp. There are currently two main archive sites.
  • Peanuts (Germany) - also distributed on CD-ROM.
  • Peak (USA)
• Commercial applications include prices and manufacturers addresses. They are usually available as demos via ftp at one of the archive sites, and fully enabled by entering the licence string.
• All prices are retail list and in USA dollars, unless otherwise indicated.
