Version 1.17 of Multi!Wav Adapter Device Driver for RHAPSODY DR2/Intel

The Harvard Computer Music Center, Rob Poor, and Tomas Hurka announce the first
third-party Rhapsody DR2 for Intel driver. This a 1.17 version of MultiWav
driver for NeXTSTEP ported to Rhpasody environment. Driver development is still
not supported by Rhapsody DR2, but the driver seems to work great.

OVERVIEW:
Multi!Wav Adapter device driver lets you take advantage of the
following adapters:
Manufacturer	Adapter PC Bus
AdB Corp. Multi!Wav Digital PRO	ISA
AdB Corp. Multi!Wav Digital PRO18	ISA
AdB Corp. Multi!Wav Digital PRO24	ISA

These Multi!Wav cards provide AES/EBU, SPDIF, and TOSLINK input/output
to your NeXTStep Intel machine. The Pro-18 card adds an 18 bit digital
to analog converter for monitoring. For more information about AdB
sound cards see the AdB www home page at http://www.adbdigital.com.

Driver supports 32000,44100 and 48000 Hz sampling rates, 16 bit linear
sampling in mono or stereo format. The driver makes the card work like
a standard audio card, so special software is not needed for digital
tranfers, though we recommend Bernhard Scholz's excellent SASound.app
for recording. The driver is robust, and provides much better playback
that what you might be used to from the Microsoft Sound System,
SoundBlaster, or Pro Audio Spectrum.

you found the driver reliable, please, register the driver. For more
details see document Registration.rtf.

Release 1.17 notes:
1.	This a first public release of the Rhapsody DR2 driver.
2.	Driver does not use IRQ since Multi!Wav card cannot generate one.
The result is this log message when the driver is loaded by Mach OS:
MultiWav at dma channels 6 and 7 irq -268415659
This does no harm, just Sound class does not count with the sound
	driver without IRQ.

INSTALLATION:

These instructions show you how to install the Multi!Wav adapter device
driver on an Intel-based computer running NEXTSTEPä. The driver is
distributed as a file named MultiWav-1.17-I-b.tar.gz.

1.	Install Multi!Wav card under Windows and set all hardware switches using
AdB installation program. Test that the card works correctly under
	Windows.
2.	If you received the MultiWav-1.17-I-b.tar.gz file via NeXTmail or
downloaded via FTP or another electronic source, place a copy of the
file in a location where you can access it when you log in as root.
3.	Log in as root.
Only the superuser, root, can install the device drivers. If you're not
sure how to log in as root, see your system administrator.
4.	Uncompress and unarchive the MultiWav-1.17-I-b.tar.gz file.
5.	Double-click the MultiWav.config. This automatically launches
Configure.app and copies the driver into the /NextLibary/Devices
	directory.
6.	Add the MultiWav driver (PRO, PRO18 or PRO24) as a Sound device, and configure
port address according to the card setting. The default setting should
	be OK for most cases.
7.	Save configuration and quit Configure.app.
8.	Reboot computer.
