This is Dan Levitt's most recent banjo. It was completed in August 2003. There are approximately 300 pieces of inlay on the fingerboard, peghead and resonator sides. There are almost 800 pieces of marquetry which cover the inside and outside of the resonator and inside the pot. Carvings cover the heel area, the back of the peghead, at the nut, and around the fifth string peg. Because of the amount of decoration inside the banjo, the banjo has a clear head. He worked on the banjo on and off for 25 years, producing a work of art.
Dan is currently working on a CD featuring the banjo. Stay tuned for its release!
