Currently (January 2005) for, Garmin loads the new and newly-repaired 26X0 units with software version 4.2. However, Garmin only makes available for download version 3.90.

Version 4.2 users reported difficulties in renaming the saved routes – causing the 26x0 to freeze then reboot. Garmin recommends changing back to version 3.90.

Note 1/15/05 Add “use DETOUR to avoid a road (one-time)”.

6/20/06  It has been quite a long since the last update. This update corrected a few errors thanks to users’ inputs.

9/30/06   I have added new info on how to convert tracks to routes.  Also, Google has asked me whether I want to host their ads in my website.  Being a proponent of Google (I love almost everything from them) I am doing that.  Incidentally, they will even pay me if you guys click on their ads…I have done this for a few days and I have made 22 cents!  How exciting!!!  I think I will keep my day job J.
