Do You Collector Disneyland Elongated Coins Too?

Remember before the internet... when a pressed penny collector might see a person pressing coins at Disneyland and ask them, "Do you collect them too?". It seemed in those days that collectors were most always surprised to find another collector. Collectors were often meeting other Disneyland elongated coin collectors for the first time!

Then, came the growth of the internet. With it news groups, email, eBay and web sites like David Tomita's Guide to Disneyland Pressed Coins the first web site of its type. They helped the elongated coin hobby grow and that lead to organization via elongated coin email lists like Chris Aahz's and group meetings with fellow pressed penny collectors. Soon, the early group of "advanced elongated coin collectors" started to define early Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland elongated coin collections. Eventually, a Disneyland Pressed Penny Excel file was compiled. We uploaded it to the 'net so collectors could download the latest copy and submit new pressed penny finds. We were amazed by the number of visitors to our small web site and we started to use a spell check! Ok, maybe not often enough, but sometimes. smilean.gif - 246 Bytes Within a year, the web site needed more space and we moved here, then to larger quarters for our elongated, pressed, flattened, crushed, squashed, rolled, AND mashed, smashed, stamped, squished, memory, keepsake, stretched, smushed or pinched penny souvenir coin images at ParkPennies.com's elongated coin and pressed penny guides. (If we just said "penny pictures", you'd wonder why they take up so much space wouldn't you?)

Growth describes the hobby of collecting Disney pressed coins. The growing number of pressed penny collectors, the growing number of Disneyland penny press machines, and even the growing number of Disneyland Parks all brought collectors to the hobby. The growing number of elongated coin collectors and coins were then well served by the acceptance (ok, growth!) of email and eBay providing popular ways to trade and collect elongated coins with people both near and far from the parks.

Matter of fact, at the time of this writing, there are four Disneyland parks offering pressed "pennies". Penny, nickel, dime, quarter or planchet souvenirs are now offered at The Disneyland Resort Anaheim (DLR), The Tokyo Disneyland Resort Japan (TDL), Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL), and The Disneyland Resort, Paris (DLRP). There are many Disney machines at non-Disneyland locations also like Walt Disney World and a few in satellite locations such as DisneyQuest, Pixar etc. These locations provide an ever growing number of elongated souvenir machines and coins all of which are referenced in our on-line guides. If they open another park, I'm not sure we'll still have any time left to actually press coins!

The guides here are fun to peruse, especially if you have been collecting for many years. We have some cool Disneyland pressed coin pictures too. However, for current elongated coin guides and pressed penny machine locations, please visit our pressed penny and elongated coin guides at ParkPennies.com. It is the new home of this, Bob and Stasi's original, Unofficial Disneyland Pressed Penny Web Page. The new, faster sever has more space for extensive coin references and links to other related sites. We hope to see you there. Go on to the "vintage" pressed penny files here.
